Does White Become Black in One Step?

Two clear examples of a slow and gradual step-by-step decline in a person’s walk is shown in;
2 Timothy 2:16-17 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene.
And
James 1:14-15 ...but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
In Isaiah 5:20, we see a warning, ‘Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!’
Light does not become dark in one simple step, as white does not become black in one simple step (illustrated in the diagram). It's many steps in the wrong direction, which is so gradual, you don’t even notice the decline.
Professing Christian, are you slowly accepting wrong doctrines that are dragging you away from truth?
If so, then as the Bible says, you will become more and more ungodly.
It is a dangerous thing to brag about how much one has mellowed and learned during their walk. By this, they often mean that they are more open-minded, liberal in thinking, broadening their tent pegs etc. etc.
The trap here is that they feel prideful about their diverse and embracing views – even calling their newly adopted and broad views 'love'. This sounds good, which is why so many Christians are being fooled.
Unfortunately, the truth is, they are not growing in truth but in a lie. Therefore, they are shrinking back.
Hebrews 10:38
But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.
Choose you this day who you will serve. Every step you take in the wrong direction could see your heart being hardened to the ways of God. This is a tragedy because JESUS IS RETURNING SOON!
