Remember Where Your Identity is Found

Sometimes, we forget that our identity is not found in this world, but in a Kingdom that is foreign to this world. When we look for acknowledgement from this world, it will leave us feeling empty and worthless.

So where do we need to look? We look to Him to see where our identity is found.

‘Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.’

Romans 12:2

“…As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world…”

John 15:19

It’s not about trying to please others and living up to man’s ideas and what man considers to be good, but surrendering to the One who’s will is most important.

God's will is for His people to know how special we are to Him. That He created us, He watched over us our whole life, even when we didn’t know He was there, He put his fingers through the lock of our heart and broke through the barriers that held Him at bay and now we belong to Him – not this world. Not only did He create you, He purchased you. You died with Him and you rose with Him victoriously.

Forget looking to others for approval, look at your beloved. His eyes are like doves by the water streams, washed in milk, mounted like jewels. Look at Him like there is no one else in the room.

“…His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, this is my friend…”

Song of Solomon 5:16

Don’t let the identity thief steal from you, but rather, remember the One who wooed your heart by sacrificing His own life, long ago.

‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ John 10:10
